Congratulations !! A team of four students participated in the Simon Marais Mathematics Competition held on 10th October 2026, at the University of Kelaniya.
We are proud of our students for participating in this prestigious international mathematics competition and appreciate their enthusiasm and commitment to mathematics.
Professor Martínez Aroza’s two-day visit to the University of Kelaniya, organised by the Department of Mathematics, included a range of academic, research, and student-oriented activities. He met with university and departmental representatives to discuss academic collaboration and future international cooperation with the University of Granada. He also delivered a public lecture on “Nothingness, Allness, Zero, Infinity” for undergraduate students and conducted research discussions with academic staff.
On the second day, he introduced Honours Degree students to the Erasmus+ Programme and student mobility opportunities. He also delivered the monthly Mathematics Colloquium on “Clustered Histogram Entropy for Detecting Edges in Images,” highlighting contemporary mathematical approaches to image analysis. The visit concluded with further discussions on potential joint research activities and strengthening academic links between the two universities.
Do you see science in the swirl of a tide pool, the wings of a butterfly, or everyday moments in nature? Capture those moments and share them!
